What is TBQP?

The Texas Beef Quality Producer program is the Texas Cow/Calf & Stocker producers’ response to the national BQA effort

The mission of the Texas Beef Quality Producer Program (TBQP) is to promote good management practices for cattle producers in an effort to strengthen consumer confidence in beef as a wholesome food product.

An ounce of prevention is worth a hundred weight
The TBQP Program is not about spending more money or buying into a here-today, gone-tomorrow trend. These proven beef quality practices are just better methods of doing the same jobs you're already doing. Methods that provide a safer, more tender and improved food product makes satisfied beef eaters around the the world. Beef quality, food safety and environmental stewardship guide the principles of the TBQP. What guides yours? The TBQP management strategies "prevent" problems related to quality and safety from ever occurring - rather than correcting them. The TBQP has been labeled by beef industry experts as a truly vital program that prepares Texas cattlemen for the fast approaching changes coming in the cattle industry all the while strengthening not only your management skills, but consumer demand.

The main focus of the program is food safety. Eliminating residues, blemishes and foreign objects is critical to maintaining consumer confidence and acceptance of beef as the protein of choice in their diet.

The TBQP will help you become more cost effective, make better decisions, produce a better food product and most important, increase demand.

Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) is a national effort with 47 states involved.  If you would like to learn more on the history of BQA click here.
